SmCo (samarium cobalt) magnet, a type of rare earth magnet also, is a strong permanent magnet made of an alloy of samarium and cobalt. They have higher temperature resistance and higher coercivity. Be brittle, and prone to cracking and chipping than NdFeB magnets. Samarium cobalt magnets are available in two "series", namely series 1:5 (SmCo5) and series 2:17 (Sm2Co7).
